Trash Can Production Process Analysis

As a vital component of urban sanitation infrastructure, trash can production processes directly impact the product's durability, aesthetics, and environmental performance. Modern trash can production primarily involves four core steps: raw material preparation, injection molding, surface treatment, and assembly and testing.

 

The raw material preparation stage requires rigorous material screening. Municipal trash cans typically use weather-resistant plastics such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP). Masterbatch and recycled materials (no more than 30%) are mixed in proportion using an automated metering system to ensure material strength and compliance with GB/T 28019-2020 standards for environmental protection. Industrial-grade trash cans may also incorporate flame retardants or anti-corrosion agents.

Injection molding is a key process. After being melted at 200-280°C, the raw materials are injected into a precision mold using a screw injection molding machine at a pressure of 15-25 MPa. The cooling cycle lasts approximately 30-90 seconds (depending on the product volume). Mold temperature is controlled between 40-60°C to minimize deformation. Large trash cans require multi-cavity molds or gas-assisted molding technology to improve production efficiency.

Surface treatment includes printing and spraying. Text and patterns are printed using UV offset printing to achieve UV-fading resistance. Outdoor trash cans are often electrostatically powder-coated, with a coating thickness of 80-120μm. Curing at 180°C achieves wear resistance and anti-sticking properties. Some high-end products are made of stainless steel and require polishing or brushing.

The final stage is assembly testing. Trash cans with inner containers require rubber sealing rings to be installed. The entire product must pass load tests (≥50kg static pressure), drop tests (1.5m height), and dimensional accuracy measurements (tolerance ±1.5mm). Qualified products are disinfected with ozone before packaging and labeled with material symbols according to international standards (such as a recycling symbol >7).

The entire process can compress the single-piece production time to less than 2 minutes through the automated production line. At the same time, it relies on the MES system to achieve full-process quality traceability, ensuring that the trash can maintains a service life of 5-8 years in complex environments.
